Eldy is the first easy to use software designed for the elderly, from the non-profit European Eldy’s organization.
Eldy allows seniors to use computers and to take part in the Internet revolution. It does this by providing a software that allows easy access to all the most important functions: e-mail (pop3 and imap), chat, Web browsing, weather, text editing, streaming and much more.
Eldy is not only software.
Eldy is an army of volunteers, students and adults, from the age of 20 through the 50’s, that teach and encourage
seniors to use this software.
Because we all need to be part of this incredible revolution!

Eldy 2.2 is now available.
Just a few days before Christmas, Eldy No Profit Organization wanted to make a gift to its users spread all over the world.
To allow as many seniors as possible to jump into the technologic world, ELDY 2.2 is in 22 different languages, translated and heavily tested by mother tongue volunteers: Italian, UK English, USA English, French, German, Spanish, Catalan, Mexican Spanish, Dutch, Danish, Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, Finnish, Swedish, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Greek , Hebrew, … a good start on Japanese version and Chinese as well.
This happened thank to the great cooperation of our volunteers on the Eldy.Net – the community for the global e-inclusion that helped translate our software in many other languages and localize Eldy in many countries all over the world. Thank all Eldy.net for this great achievement.
Eldy 2.2 has some other very interesting features (e.g. Event management)- we’ll publish a screencast about all new detail.

Our nation is constantly moving forward technologically. Most would agree that the youth of today are more tech-savy than many adults. Everything we do now-a-days seems to involve a computer element in one way or another. Unfortunately, the elderly are being left behind. A 2004 report from the Pew Internet & American Life Project reported that approximately 22% of American adults age 65 and older have access to the Internet (http://www.jmir.org/2005/2/e19#ref2). That leaves about 78% without any kind of technological access.
Computers and the Internet can seem intimidating to someone who was raised in an age that didn’t use them. Many seniors won’t touch a computer because of feelings of inadequacy. Couple that with the learning difficulties that aging and/or health problems can bring, and they can feel even more apprehensive. Yet, there is so much computers and the Internet can do to enrich their lives, what can be done to bridge this digital divide?
